Ultima Series
Richard Gariott starting programming games very early, from age 13, while attending Clear Creek High School in Houston Texas. He finished a series of small CRPGs named Dungeons and Dragons #1 to #28 with #28b becoming Akalabeth, his first commercial game and the precursor to the entire Ultima franchise.
The success of these early games led Garriott to found Origin Systems, where he created the influential Ultima series. Along the way came milestones such as Ultima Underworld, a pioneering 3D dungeon crawler that arrived before Doom, and Ultima Online, one of the earliest MMORPGs.
